When life has left us dry, depleted and stuck on overdrive, we contract and constrict, all in the name of self-protection. This can start to feel like our normal, as if we are still under threat, when we are actually already safe.

The shape of our bodies constellates into survival patterns which are no longer congruent with what we want for our lives. We may find ourselves overwhelmed, looping the same old stories, unable to sustain the change we desire.

Working through our body opens up space for our body’s wisdom to create and embody transformation over time. We begin to touch more deeply into our wellspring of life energy to skillfully shape the reality we are always co-creating. When we can sense more of ourselves from within, we create more choice on how we respond to life.

  • Somatics derives from the Greek word soma which translates as our ‘living organism in its wholeness’. When our mind/body/spirit are in coherence, life feels easier, even if the challenges are still present.

    Somatic Coaching is a body-oriented, relational approach to empower you in addressing barriers to realising your visions, transmuting stuck patterns and strengthening your relationships through a blend of depth processing and somatic inquiry.

    With gentleness and curiosity I work with you to uncover embodied conditioned tendencies, patterns we’ve learned and carry out often unconsciously. These patterns may not align with our values or true intentions which can make us feel stuck or unable to bring about the changes we seek in our life and relationships. We’ll look at the patterns your body holds, explore their costs and benefits and establish new embodied actions that align with what really matters to you. We’ll also create measurable outcomes to help us gauge if we’re on the right track.

    Sessions gradually build on each other to help you become familiar with your body, its wisdom and how it communicates. Embodiment and mindfulness practices may be offered to help you go deeper at your pace. We may explore practices that invite creativity and play, which I believe are essential for easing the nervous system and inviting discovery, ease and pleasure.

    Somatic Experiencing® deeply informs my approach in how I relate to you. I weave in SE principles throughout our work.

  • Somatic Experiencing® (SE™) is a body-oriented approach for healing trauma and other stress disorders from a nervous system lens. Trauma, from an SE lens, is focused on how it shows up in the nervous system and how stuck patterns of fight, flight or freeze impacts life.

    SE facilitates the completion of self-protective motor responses and the release of thwarted survival energy bound in the body and nervous system, by gently guiding someone to develop increasing tolerance for difficult bodily sensations and suppressed emotions, building their capacity for containment and resilience.

    The purpose is to diffuse the power of the trauma narrative and remap the body memory to regain aliveness and flow.

    While Somatic Coaching may feel therapeutic in nature and enhances your overall emotional and mental wellbeing, coaching is not counselling or psychotherapy and does not substitute for counselling, psychotherapy or medical advice if needed.

  • All sessions are held virtually via Zoom.

  • I offer single sessions as a soft, subtle doorway into longer term work, and a flexible option for you to book in more sessions as you wish.

    Somatic work builds steadily as you increase your somatic capacity to track and stay with your inner experience while you expand towards your dreams. Longer-term work can yield potent transformation over a longer period of time.

  • We generally start a session with resourcing through somatic exploration by orienting and grounding to our environment and the present moment. You are invited to bring an intention or inquiry of what you wish to explore, which links to the broader arc of your intention for our work together.

    During a session, I may ask you to pause your story and notice what is happening in and around your body - this could be sensations, images, sounds, gestures, emotions and thoughts. There may be invitations to track what happens next. At times I may invite explorations into different physical postures, movement and self-touch to support your process.

    Towards the end of our session, we allow space for integration and explore next steps for how you want to translate what you experienced in session into your life.
